What are the minimum System Requirements to run Dr. Companion?
You can view your Mobile Library on large screens on a PC using Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X with an available USB-port, or a PDA with Windows Mobile (Pocket PC) or Palm OS 5 with touchscreen and a memory card slot. The library is shipped in a DVD box with manual and is stored on a memory card and with adapters so that you can use it on smartphones with MicroSD, MiniSD and SD card slots as well as on regular computers with a USB port.

If your device is not compatible you can contact your airtime provider and upgrade to a compatible model or send us an e-mail info@medhand.com and we will send you a list of compatible models.
Is your product tax deductable?
Yes, but consult with a tax professional for the best advice.
In most cases reference literature related to work purposes is tax deductible. Our product provides reference literature in an electronic format instead of printed form. The software qualifies for this but the hardware required to view it may not.
Can I store my own files on the memory card?
Yes, but we don't recommend you do so.
The product is provided on memory card. In order to support all the platforms offered, the structure of the card is complex and at sometimes confusing. It is possible to easily remove a file or directory unintentionally (unless you are experienced)
Can I delete files from the memory card?
No!
The files and directory structure on the memory card has been built specifically to support all the platforms offered. Almost every file or directory has a specific purpose, without them - the program will not function.
Can I have both TomTom Navigator and Dr Companion?
Dr Companion is designed to be run direct from the memory card.
TomTom Navigator assumes ownership of the memory card on installation, effectively overwriting the "autorun" features of the card so that their own application is started instead of Dr Companion - meaning the Dr Companion will stop working.
We have reported this issue to Palm and HP, in addition to the software engineers of TomTom Navigator. If you intend to use TomTom Navigator, ensure that you use a secondary memory card for storing maps and data.

Subscription
What is meant by "subscription"?
The product requires an active subscription to function.
When you purchase a product you will be provided with a subscription period. The product will communicate periodically with our servers to ensure the latest application version and the most up-to-date databases are installed.
I have a subscription, but my card is expired?
The Dr Companion is a continually updating product.
You will be presented with a synchronization dialog at least once a month in which the Dr Companion product communicates with our synchronization server and downloads any messages and updates your subscription files on the memory card.
It is recommended you reserve one day a month where you simply use your desktop or laptop computer with an Internet connection and perform a manual synchronization using the "Synchronize" menu option.
What happens when my subscription ends?
You will no longer be able to use the product.
A sales representative will be in contact you at least one month prior to your subscription expiration to allow you to extend your subscription as appropriate. If you need assistance with subscriptions, contact our sales department.
UK/International
Through your Medhand Mobile Library you will be able to subscribe to you most trusted references on an annual basis. The library will be updated directly to your card when you are using your product on a regular computer with internet connection and you press the synchronise/update button in the application.
You can also update your library directly on your smartphone or PDA when you are connected to the internet. As a subscriber you will be automatically updated to the latest editions of the books included for example the BNF or the Oxford Handbooks as soon as they are avialable in digital format.
You can also select additional titles on a non subscription basis in addition to your core library.
Updates
Do you update regularly?
Yes.
MedHand International AB works very closely with its partners and when new material and/or updates are made available, they are processed and then made available to our users. Updates tend to be periodical - depending on the product.
Do you provide updates for free?
It depends on the agreement we have with our partners.
Material that is updated regularly is provided free of charge while the
subscription service for that product is active. If a product is
bi-annual, you will typically receive three (3) versions of the product
in a one year subscription period.
Material that is not updated regularly may need to be purchased again in order to update to the new edition. However, if there are corrections and/or ammendments to the same edition, these will naturally be provided free of charge.
Do I have to update?
It depends on the agreement we have with our partners.
In general all subscription based material requires an update. This is due to the fact that we receive updates from our partners regularly and we must ensure that the latest information is available - in fact it is sometimes a legal requirement.
Material that does not require subscription does not have to be updated unless there are corrections and/or ammendments to the same edition. You will be required to have an active subscription on the product to use these materials however.
